Although water is the most widespread base material on earth and is essential for all forms of life, it is not a plentiful resource. World-wide water usage tripled during the second half of the last century and the demand for water is likely to continue to increase for well into the present millennium.
Xeros Ltd an alternative to traditional aqueous-based domestic laundering systems as well as solvent-based commercial garment cleaning technologies.
Our patented technology is the result of research work carried out at the University of Leeds which sought to reduce the amount of water consumed during textile wet processing and garment cleaning. This innovative technical solution also enables savings to be made in the amounts of energy and chemicals that are consumed during wet processing and laundering.
Whilst for many years, the textile industry has sought to reduce the amount of water it consumes, in-line with other industries, copious amounts of water continue to be used in the wet processing of textiles. The Xeros technology, which was developed by Professor Stephen Burkinshaw, enables massive savings to be made in the amount of water and energy consumed during the washing, scouring, dyeing and printing of textiles. |
